  • Miramar is a city in Broward County, Florida, United States. The city was named after the Miramar district of Havana, Cuba. As of 2007, the population estimated by the U.S. Census Bureau is 108,240.2 It is part of the South Florida metropolitan area, which is home to 5,463,857 people. The city’s official motto is “Beauty and Progress,” updated from the earlier-used “The Center of Everything”. As of the census of 2000, there were 72,739 people, 23,058 households, and 18,653 families residing in the city. The population density was 2,465.8/mi² (952.0/km²). There were 25,905 housing units at an average density of 878.2/mi²(339.1/km²). The racial makeup of the city was 43.59% White (21.6% were Non-Hispanic White,) 43.30% African American, 0.16% Native American, 3.03% Asian, 0.10% Pacific Islander, 4.72% from other races, and 5.11% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 29.38% of the population.
